Gender & Women's Studies Minor

Section 1

Gender women's studies Minor

"I still maintain relationships with several of my GWS professors and they are an invaluable part of my life. They encouraged me to follow my passions, to be outspoken about what I believe in, and that one person can make a world of difference, even if only to another person" - Kaytlin Reedy-Rogier, GWS Alumna

For students Entering the University:

A minor in GWS provides complementary tools for many majors in the humanities, arts and sciences. The minor advocates actively reading, questioning, challenging, and understanding racialized, sexualized, and gendered bodies. The Department of Gender and Women's Studies must approve a student's minor course plan. Students must register their minor with the Gender and Women's Studies advisor.

To declare the minor, fill out the GWS Minor form and email it to or bring it to the GWS at 1205 W. Nevada St., Urbana, IL 61801. To speak with the GWS Advisor, email Jacque Kahn at Download the GWS Minor Checklist.
